i have a 20 gallon with freshwater i need to get it to 1.008 for my figure eights, how much salt (crystal sea marinemix) can i safely add a day?

Raise the salinity 0.002 a week, nothing more than that as it will hurt the bio filter. Possibly even kill it off completely causing a mini cycle. I wouldn't try and do it daily, too easy to make a mistake.
Plus you need to pre mix the marine salt before adding it, and it's just easier to do that when doing a water change.

For a rough estimate, it takes around a cup of salt/5gal to raise the SG .005. You'll have to do some math...
