I'm trying to find an inexpensive outlet to purchase 350 lbs. of small grain gravel, gravel worthy to put in a tank.
I was thinking Home Depot (the last refuse of the home-owner). Has any one ever gotten a decent deal from there? $13 for 25 lbs. @ PetSCHMART is not going to cut it....

I got some good river gravel from Home Depot. I got 150 lbs for $7.00. I would use it again. They also have some good looking pea gravel also.

I got pea gravel from the concrete company but it needed cleaning. They got alot of sand mixed in, it dont hurt the crete, just a pain to seperate it. Cant beat the price though.

Look for a lanscaping supply house in your area, they should have numerous grades of gravel to choose from...cheap.

I was looking at gravel at lots of different places untill i feel in love with the way sand looks. You can get gravel at a local rock quary (i also got slate there too) or home depot is good too. But i got black sand blasting sand 16 bucks for 100 pounds. Best 16 bucks i ever spent. But whatever you decide to get just plan on siting in your diver way for awhile cleaning the stuff. I sprayed water though the sand/gravel while it was in a big fish net. If you want to see how the sand looks feel free to Private message me or email for a pic.

Thanks.
I considered sand for many months, but the bed I'm looking at is too deep for sand (4"-8" in some places).

Landscape material suppliers will have suitable gravel for 5 or 6 cents per pound typically packaged in 100 lb bags.
