filter help!!!

If it's a HOB (hang-on-back) filter, like an Aquaclear, Penguin, etc. it may be the impeller's stuck. This happens to one of my filters all the time - try plugging it in, and then using a chopstick or other long, thin piece of wood/plastic to gently touch the impeller (you'll have to move the intake tube over to get to it, be careful to just touch it quickly so you don't damage it). The filter should spring into life and start working again. If not, try unplugging it, taking it apart, remove the impeller and clean it (sometimes gunk builds up, making it stick), put everything back and try again.

Or it may need to be re primed. Pour some water into it.
