View Full Version : Problem with DottyBacks
Hi people!
I'm trying to breed dottybacks at my home with no such results. When they're 15 days old they start to die almost immediately. Water, nutrients, pH, etc, are Ok.
So my question is to that that tried or breed dottybacks at home, what are your procedures dealing with them with success?
Thanks in Advance!

With clownfish, it's important to have decent iodine levels for them to make it through metamorphosis. When do dottybacks go from larvae to baby fish?
At about 8-10 days.
My question is because I work for a famous fish-farm on the larvae section, and in the farm, we don't have that problem with DottyBacks. Only in my attempt to do it at home :D One of my guess is that they're attacking each other. At my home I don't have the tanks we got at work ;)

Hmmm, if I was Martin Moe perhaps I could help you.
You could try finding him on the web, but why in the heck don't you just ask the folks you work with? Surely you have the best source of info at your own workplace? BTW, are those P. Fridmani?
Here's the best link I can find from Martin Moe:

I would guess they're starving to death if they're always dieing at the same time, presumably as you're not providing the right foods. You need to get intouch with an established breeder.
Try Martin Moe, TMC in the UK brred them, and so do some other people. You should try on the ultimatereef.net website (UK) and check either in the reefs bulletein board OR ask an amateur breeder who was selling juvies.
