What is the smallest tank that I could keep an Albino Tiger Oscar in? He would be the only fish in the tank. The LFS has some that are about 2 inches. Are Albinos any different that regular tiger oscars other than color?

Minimum tank for sub-adult (6 inches or bigger) would be a 55, and that's fitting him in there with a shoe-horn. I don't know that I've ever seen a pair of happy oscars in a 55. A 75 is a better choice. The difference that swimming room makes is amazing.

Albinos are just a tough as the regular guys, and are neat pets. They tend to get this "dirty" look to them as they age, with some browning on the edge of the fins. I'm not a big albino oscar fan, I think the brown/red tigers are quite attractive, but to each his own...

What is a simalar fish that i could put into a 3ft long tank, Jack Dempsy,Green Terror,or Convict??
Thanks

A true 100 is fantastic for big oscars, dempseys, terrors. The green terror may give you an aggression fit as they grow and space becomes more of a premium. A Green Severum is a good replacement. Then only the dempsey may give an aggression fit, depending on individual personality.

worried oscar lover

for the last week my oscar (brutis) a 12 inch albino oscar has been spending a great deal of time at the surface and sometimes floating on his side.
i've read a bucket load of stories on oscars but none have said anything about this problem. my ph is good and the tank does'nt smell, the tank has a 2/3s water change every week.i am now becoming quite worried
CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE

Yeah, if you like not being able to turn around well.

Oscars get 12-14''... 55g tanks are 12'' wide. They should be given at least a couple inches turn around space. The best (standard) tank for oscars is a 75g.

Hey there, I'm new to this forum, but certainly not new to Oscars. In order to help you better it would help to know the exact water parameters you have.
NitrItes, NitrAtes, Ammonia.
What size tank is he in? How long has he been in it?
