Hey, I just got a feeder cone and a veggie clip for puffer tank. Smells like new plastic. Should I sanitize it, like soak it in hot water, or boil it or anything before I use it?

I always rinse new stuff in freshwater. If I'm worried about it having any trace chemicals, I'll rinse it in really cold water, then soak it in oxyclean dissolved in hot water.

correct me if I'm wrong, but cold water doesn't kill germs does it?

I think it'll be fine if I just soak it in hot water, but ya, I like to rinse all my stuff too.

cold water doesnt kill germs regular hot water doesnt either. well cold water has a better chance cause of the cholorine and stuff they put into tap water

New plastic isn't a germ. Hot water will soften the plastic, something I prefer to avoid unless it needs to be shaped. Clod water works very well for lots of cleaning, particularly when you're dealing with vapors (ie, odors).
