Easy floating plants?

Absolutely, the easiest floater for the environment you suggest is Pennywort.
I got my first few pieces of it from my brother-in-law out of his unheated tank in the basement of his house in Pittsburgh. The tank was a 30 gal. with one 15watt bulb, and the plants weren't flourishing, but were doing very well under the circumstances.
One tough little plant that will also grow in the substrate.
I have sent pieces of this plant all over the country, winter and summer with zero casualties.

Banana plant. Has achors that look like green bananas. they shoot up tons of huge lillypad leaves. I don't do anything but have bright 18,000 k I think light, and even that is not necessary I don't think. The are awsome cause they look unique, root themselves, grow great in low maitaintence conditions, and don't shed leaves everywhere that are hard to find, like my anancharis. In fact I think the only thing that causes the leaves to dye is if 2 cover eachother and one is light deprived, or when my silly loach goes on a munching spree...even then you clearly can find the problem leaf and remove it.

Highly recommend these plants. for pic check plantgeek.net

:thm: sounds good!

Hm...

I checked both pennywort and bannana plant, and the light for both is moderate requirement. Moderate is at least 2.5 WPG? What if I had a 15 watt over a thirty gallon. WOuld that be too harsh on the plants?
