Let the Buyer Beware

I was in Walmart a while ago, in the fish section, and I noticed two small, blue, nightlight-looking bulbs for sale advertised as "Incandescent plant grow bulbs" or something to that effect. I suppose the "Incandescent" was there to impress those that don't know what the term means. This really bothered me a lot. The blue would enhance the color of the plants but that's it.

Do you think this is morally wrong, or do you think that the buyer should be responsible for being knowledgeable before buying?

To me, the need is for the purchaser to have some info before spending their money. Anybody who accepts modern marketing hype is doomed if they do not. That applies to a lot more than just aquarium supplies.

For what it's worth...I use those bulbs on an unplanted 5g betta tank. The light they produce - at least with mine - is not actually blue. It's white. More like just a 15000K or something.

At any rate, you should know about what you buy before you buy it. No one is making you spend the money on it.
