Peacock in trouble?

2 weeks ago I added an 1.5" Aulonocara nyassae peacock to my 55 gal. tank. His right side now has a white "fuzzy" stripe going vertically on his body. It looks like it is on his skin, rather than part of his coloration, (although the white fits in with his stripe pattern, though his stripes are more of a blue).

The spec. gravity is 1.004-5 and the ph is 7.6. I have him in w/ African cichlids, one of which is an 2" aurautus. The peacock mainly hides (lots of hiding places), but comes out every once in a while, no one seems to pick on him profusely, the auratus picks on everyone equally.

Is the white strip some kind of disease or stress or ??? What can I do for him?

This is a great fish and I'd hate to loose him, any help is appreciated.

sorry i dont know the answer but i was wondering, how big do peacock bass get?

The Peacock he's refering to is not a Peacock Bass, he's refering to Aulonocara which are cichlids native to Africa...specifically Lake Malawi. Peacock Bass are from South America, I think they max out at 2-3 feet...they will be towards the smaller end of that in captivity.

Nattybrack...I can't help you with the fuzzy spots, I don't have much experience with diseases. You may have better luck posting in General Freshwater. But, I will warn you about the Auratus, it may mean trouble for your Auloncara...what else are you keeping in the tank?
