I had an Opaline Gourami fat with eggs who was very sick so I moved her into a quarantine tank last week. She died a day later. Today in the quarantine tank (that hasn't housed any other fish) I see 2 little babies swimming around. What can I do to keep them alive? What can I feed them? Help!
Thanks. Mark

Figure out what kind of babies they are...

Most gouramies are bubble nesters. The eggs are fertilized externally by the male, who then stores them in a bubble nest and gaurds the nest until the eggs hatch. Similar to bettas. There are exceptions, but none of them include internal fertilization. A female who was isolated would not have fertile eggs.

However, most fry can be fed 1-2 day old brine shrimp, microworms, vinegar eels, or flake food that's been crushed finely.

Thanks. After reading about them that was how I understood them to reproduce. The only other explanation for the babies was that a couple fertilized eggs were on a plant I pruned and put in my quarantine tank.
Thanks again. Mark
