I need some help on deciding whether I have enough room in my tank for any more fish.

I have a 36in x 12in x 18in tank that holds 39 gallons.

Fish:

4 Giant Danios
2 Flame Gouramis
6 Red-eye Tetras
4 1in Golden Angelfish (from an uncle)
7 2in Angelfish (from a friend)

The tank is well-planted and has good filteration, but I am worried about running out of room, particularly with the growing Angelfish. I don't have any bottom swimmers, and would like to get several cory cats, but I'm not sure if I should risk it.

Any tips?

Thanks!

so you have 11 angelfishes? that's way too many for a 40g tank when they grow up. They're territorial and will fight amongst themselves if they don't have a space to stake out. Plus they can reach 7 inches wide. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but a 40g tank can only hold 2-3 angelfishes.

I thought the maximum was 4 inches!

They Angelfish are from the same spawning, respectively, so I thing they'd be less likely to be aggressive. Do they need so much space because they are territorial, or just because of their sheer size?

Well, both.

Angelfishes can and will definately grow past 4 inches on a proper diet. Even if they only grew to 4 inches, you'd be overstocked.

They may be one of the tamer breeds of cichlids but they are still cichlids and will be territorial, especially if they pair up and spawn.
