i thought that south american cichlids and african cichlids are not supose to be mixed

No, this combo will not work. Blue rams are one of the smaller, more peaceful cichlid species and should never be mixed with large (green terror) or aggressive (electric yellows/blues) species. And, as Kevinfishboy has mentioned, you should never mix new world and old world cichlids as you will more than likely end up with more than just problems.

I would research further into the species you are interested in. If you want to go African, it's best to pick what lake (Tanganyika, Malawi, or Victoria) or a species from West Africa. If you want to go South/Central American, you should decide whether you want peaceful, aggressive, large, and/or small. Once you have narrowed the field down, I am sure that someone can give you an excellent stocking plan :).

Africans are typically recommened to require high pH - around 8.0.
I know the blue rams are recommended acidic / lower pH around 6.0.
I think the green terrors are SA and are like the blue rams.

I wanted to mix blue rams with my electric yellows until I found out that it's not recommended.

On top of everything else, the electric yellows are recommended a vegetarian diet.
Look up Malawai bloat.
The blue rams are recommended a more protein diet.

So, you're trying to mix pH and diet requirements, which would imply disaster. :(

The diet problem is a serious problem.

But adjusting PH for tank raised fish is not necessary unless you plan on breeding them.
