hi i have had some driftwood soaking for 6 days so far and one piece has yet to sink what should i do about it? and i have recently collected some local rocks from my park and i was wondering what i should do before putting them into my tank? i have scrubed them with a tooth brush and i plan on soaking them in hot water any other suggestions?

Why did this get moved? It has nothing to do with DiY or freshwater products. It was fine at General Freshwater

You can try boiling the driftwood to try and make it sink...as for the local rocks, you can also boil it to disinfect the rocks. Some rocks will leach minerals to your aquarium making your aquarium hard. You can test the rock by adding vinegar to the rock...if you see the rock fizzing, then it will leach minerals in your tank...which can be good or bad depending on the type of fish you have.
