What are some good cichlids for a 30 gallon rift tank? I already have a Melochromis Autrus and a P. Zebra. Those two get along well in my 10 gallon. What else could i add with these two?

30 gals. are kinda small, is this a long?

You should go check out malawi mayhem, they have "cookie cutter" setups for tanks from 30 gallons up to 125 gallons. The link is: www.malawimayhem.com

You probably have to register with them, but seeing as you already have malawis, that's probably a good idea as there's a lot of good info on there, especially in their species profiles.

A tanganyikan tank would look nice. A pair of J. transcriptus, a calvus/comprissiceps, and a colony of ocellatus or other small shellies would make an awesome tank.

Auratus and P. Zebra both get too aggressive to be in a thirty unless they are juviniles- even then the smallest tank size recommended for these larger malawis is 55 gallon due to the nasty temperment. I would not do both in anything smaller than that, unless you want dead fish eventually and extreme water changes to keep good conditions. I started with my psuedotropheus' in a 29, now I have upped it to a fifty five and added a few more in, and its perfect. If you stay with the thirty you can try to exchange them for some rams, shell dwellers or kribs- all are awesome nasty little buggers that do well in a smaller set up.

auratus are very territorial and sometime like to run half the tank which will be bad in the long run. I would say nothing smaller than a 40 if you want a stress free tank.
