I have a clown loach that is about 3" long. When we got him he was a little too thin for my liking. Now he has plumped up a bit, but I am still a little concerened. It is almost like you can see his bones. You know the typical picture you see of fish skeletons. He eats, he had a little belly, his fins are not clamped, but when you see him from the side view you can see almost a pattern of what you would think to be his bones.

Any thoughts! He seems to be the healthiest of the bunch!

Your clown sounds fine. I've experienced having some thin clowns in a group. Just remember that clowns establish a sort of hierarchy amongst themselves, with one or two dominant members in the group. The dominant ones seem to grow fatter than the least dominant ones, because they feed more vigorously, and bully the others (none of the bullying is harmful though).

When I first got my clowns, there was a 'runt' of the bunch. He was fairly timid as opposed to the others, but once they were taken out of quarantine and placed in the 180, he fattened up quite nicely.

What you're referring to is normal. I'm pretty sure it's just the look of the clown loaches. I checked even my fatest loaches, and I can still see the lines I think you're mentioning. I wouldn't worry about it, as long as your loaches are active, eating, and have no sores in their skin or anything like that.

When fish become thin it dose take a while for them to fatten up. If you keep feeding him/her and it dose not have any internal parasites, he/she should be fine. Like you said when you got him/her it was thin and it is putting on weight so I would not be too concerned. I had a african tiger fish that was like your loach and it took him about two months for him to get some meat on his bones. :)
