For those of you that have the bubble counter built in, like in the jbl regulator and bubble counter in one, how do you re-fill the bubble counter with water? Here is the problem. By the way, the bubble counter has a built in check valve. When I open my bubble counter to fill it with water, it is fine on my 65g. I did the same with my 120g setup and as soon as I have losened the bubble cover, the water rushed through the hose and into the bubble counter filling it with aquarium water and all the junk. Not sure why my 120g back siphoned and the 65g didn't. Do you guys use another check valve, before the bubble counter?
If yes, what kind? Same as for the air pump?

I've got the JBJ regulator and I still use a check valve with it just to be safe. It's the same as what you would use for an air pump.

To be honest though, my bubble counter runs dry most of the time because I rarely pay attention to it. If I do fill it, I do it when the CO2 is turned off. For me, the bubble counter is only really useful when I refill the CO2 tank and I can see that the flow rate is similar. Otherwise testing pH and KH is more accurate IMO.
