I don’t mean overfeeding by getting a lot of waste in the tank, I’m talking about a fish pigging out to destruction.
I had a small juve Regal Tang (just over 1” long) and he fed great (too well) to the point of absolute gluttony, on Monday he was basically eating ALL the food put in the tank even bullying and stealing from the mouths of his bigger tankmates (clowns). Anyway by Monday night he’d eaten so much he looked deformed in as much as he was totally swollen in the gut area and to be honest it (his swollen-ness) didn’t look healthy, although he was as “livewire” as usual until lights out.
Anyway, Tuesday morning he’s disappeared, definitely NOT out of the tank, it’s always been lidded and is now absolutely escape proof (after my first clownfish miracle escape disaster months ago).
The only thing I can think is he pigged to death, does anyone think that is possible.
I’ve lots of macro algae in the tank, which I’ve allowed to grow as a banquet for my first Tang, but he wouldn’t look at it and he pigged on Mysis, Brine Shrimp and Reef Formula Flake
Any comments very welcome.
