Need Your Help Stocking...

I need help stocking my 30 gallon high tank. The tank consists of white silica sand substrate,lots of rock work, 1 big piece of drift wood and one little driftwood,some java moss on the driftwood and some anibus plants. I have an idea of what i want but am not set on anything. So give me some ideas...

What kind of ideas do you have? that will help people start somewhere. Like do you want certain colors, from a certain area, active/calm, etc. another great place for ideas is in the members aquarium specs. section. See what other people have in a tank your size, but no guaruntee that they've made wise choices, so you would still have to figure that out!
 
That sounds like a great setup for African cichlids. African cichlids is not a name of a species of course, but there are lot of them which are of similar size (pretty small ~3 inches), and have similar needs. They like water with high pH and hardness content, and they appreciate a lot of good rockwork, which you have.
 
I am just curious as to what other members would do if they had my aquarium. This way I can see what others like and what I like and combine the two. :dance2:
 
I had thought of african cichlids but have been told by others that a 30 gallon high is not big enough for them.
 
It looks like I see a couple fish in the picture already? :confused:

Anyway some small African cichilds could be good as mentioned above, lots of fish stores stock them.

Nice tank btw.

You could probably keep a fancy pleco or two also. Those caves just look too inviting for something like a catfish.

Yeah those fish are just in there becuase I wanted to keep the tank cycled and I wanted to see what it would look like with fish :dance2: They will either be going back to the ten gallon they came from or the LFS.
 
If you go with the African cichlids and it is only lightly stocked, a 30 gallon wouldn't be too small.
 
Do you have one or two certain fish that you would like to put in the tank? What I did, and it worked great for me, was to look up one or two fish in the species profile link on the top of the page and click on the link for tankmates. I was able to build a 75 gal. dream around one fish! Just an idea. :)
