Aggresive Cichlids with Pleco..

I was just wondering if anyone has a system for feeding both an algae eating Yellow Lab along with a Pleco. The problem I have is there is not enough algae growth on the inside of the tank (can't control that) to take care of the Pleco and when I put wafers, etc., in the tank, the Lab runs off the Pleco and takes it all for himself. I tried the nighttime thing also, it doesn't work, the smell of algae awakens the Lab and he eventually gets to the food, once again driving off the Pleco.
I was told spinach maybe the Lab will leave alone and Pleco will eat, haven't tried it yet though.

Break the algae wafers into pieces?
Or just add more?

I agree, more wafers should work. Also try some brime shrimp, labs are not like completely herbivores and your pleco will also dine on the shrimp. The pleco will eventually start to eat what your other fish eat once it grows out.
