I am new to this site, and look foward to any helpful advice I can get.
I have a 55 gallon tank with 2 female and 1 male green terrors. The tank has been set up since July. Everything was fine till 2 paired up and mated in November. Put in a divider to keep other female from eating fry. Mother started beating Father pretty badly. Removed male to other side. A few weeks passed and male and female were swimming together with divider between them. Put male back with mother and fry. Next morning all fry were gone and male's fins were ripped. Removed divider. Female is still going at male. What should I do? I am looking for a home for lonley female. May take her back to lfs. The fish that paired are around 5". Lonley female is still 3" and not growing at the rate of the others. Will the aggression calm down eventually? She is not as bad to other female as she is to the male. Lots of caves and plants to hide. The male will not defend himself although they are the same size {she is wider}.

I know I need a bigger tank. Hope to get one in the spring. Thanks charlotte

hey your not far from me! the aggression may get better when you remove the other female but it may not. getting rid of the other female and getting them a bigger tank will help things out a lot. i suggest after taking back the small female leave the divider in until you can move them into a larger tank. hth.

Throw that divider in there until you get it straightened. A male isn't going to breed if he's half dead.

Thanks for the comments. Lots of NC people here.
She seems to be calming down a bit. Moved some stuff around in tank, and put the fake plants back in. So far so good. Lone female will go back to lfs. I got her in Charlotte, but will see if local fish place will take her. What size tank should I be saving up for the "hopefully breeding" pair?

You could breed them in that. You'd be better off though if you could get something wider, like a 75 gallon, just because they are decent sized fish.
