I was wondering if anybody had any experience with pentazona or hexazona barbs. I'm going to try to order them from my local pet store. I'll be getting 6 of them, which would be put with 6 rummy nose tetras, 2 ram cichlids, and 5 cory catfish. I will provide lots of plants, and I'm going to do my best to make little hiding spots and caves with what I will get. I understand that I need to make frequent water changes. Thank you

I have 6 pentazona barbs and I LOVE them! They differentiate male and female after a couple weeks or so. The males will get fairly bright orange too.

They are very peaceful, like Cherry barbs and are fun to watch. they like lots of plants live or fake to swim around. They will stay in a loose school too. they are a bit prone to ick but prove hearty once settled in. They often arrive from Africa with ich so please quarentene for a couple weeks. If you can't do that, I bet the LFS can.

watch the water changes too that the parameters don't fluctuate too much. I lost a bunch of pentazonas during a water change once. Grrrr!

Good luck and enjoy!
