:help: I am not sure what to do here...I have just put a new garden pond in. Its 125 gallons. I have done all the water checks and everything seems to be ok. I even took the water to a specalty store and all checked out well. We allowed our pond to establish itself for almost two weeks with all the plants and all.

Now the situation is we just put our fish in yesterday and they were fine but now they seem to be very lathergic and are laying on the bottom of the pond. there also seems to be a slight "fish" odor coming form the pond. I have again checked water and nothing seems out of place, what could cause my fishies to be like this??

Well I had similar this morning.
I Have a 5000 litre aquaculture tank outside.Yesterday I had 1 dead small fish.
This morning I had 1 large fish upside down .I took that one out and the other two the same out and put them in my bath.
They are barramundi and i think they just can't handle the cold in winter here.
Outside it could be lack of aeration. However my perch that are in there are fine.
Maybe the same.Or just the shock from moving tto new environment.

water conditioner, tests

You must invest in a water test kit, Aquarium Pharmacuticals has one that has ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH (high and normal) that I prefer.

Also, what is the water temperature?

Are you feeding too much?

What water conditioner did you use when you filled the pond?

Does your water contain chlorine or chloramine?

If it were lack of oxygen, they would be at the top gasping, not at the bottom. Did you cycle your pond? You need to add slowly... one small animal first, maybe some snails or some white cloud minnows, then slowly introduce goldfish and koi. How large is the pond and how many/ what kind of fish?

Are you australian? I know that is a aussi fish. Because we got some in at our restaurant.....Gasp!! lol (they werent that good) and spikey little devils too. They tasted a little muddy. Our fish supplier got them for us for FREE!!! lol and we turned around and sold them for $30 buck sa piece LOL crusted with pistacio and basil, and served with white asperagus.

I'm sorry if this disturbs you I just thought it was funny as I have never heard of this fish until a few days ago and now i hear its in your pond lol

Thanks for all the advice but it turns out that I had some sick fish. I was able to locate some pond owners in the neighborhood and talk with them. Apparently I did not buy my fish at the quality establishment that I beleived it to be. After the sick fish, which were coments, were removed form the pond everyone else brightened up and appear to be doing great. Even the plants seem to be greener....Note, I do have a water test kits as I stated and checked the water what seemed to be every 15 minutes. My pond is 125 gallons and there was 5 coments and there still is 3 (here goes nothing...I will spell it the way it sounds) sabumkins......Thanks again.....

So you have three shubunkins left?

I would not add any other fish for awhile.
