Hey all, I just wanted to pass along a website I was just became aware of today. The short story is that on May 7, Susan Torres unexpectadly lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital. She was eventually diagnosed with stage 4 Melanoma and is now brain dead with no chance of recovery. What's worse is that she was 5 months pregnant at the time. The family has decided to try to keep her body functioning long enough to give the baby a chance of survival. This is costing about $7500 per day, and insurance is only covering about $6000 of that. They need to keep it up until at least mid July for the child to have a chance. Another 5 weeks beyond that would greatly reduce the odds of complications, but would increase the risk of the child contracting the cancer.
If you would like to donate, you can do so at http://www.susantorresfund.org/. The fund is administered by a registered non-profit so contributions are tax deductible.
Here are some news articles to show it's all legit:

And some information about Melanoma:

I usually ignore this sort of thing, but this seems like a pretty worthy cause.
