Metal/galvanized stock tanks for fish?

Pro:
-Inexpensive

Cons:
-Ferrous metal, so sooner or later it will start to rust, especially filled with water.
-Some people (myself included) are particularly sensitive to the foul odor given off by galvanized objects while some can't even smell it.
-Many fish' senses include interpretation of electrical signals, and I don't know the long term issues with being housed within a ferrous object.
-Heavier than plastic (minor, but think about whether or not you plan on relocating it now and again)

Yeah I figure they would rust eventually.

I was looking at a 300 gallon one to house my longnose gar.

I certainly wouldnt use them. You can get plastic tanks for agriculture use, which are nearly as cheap as the metal ones, and wont rust, leak, or release any potentially toxic compounds into the water.

Yup, those will work. They make them in a variety of different plastics, though. Some are/arent UV resistant, some are not food safe, etc, so be careful what you purchase.

Iwas ata Tilapia raising operation, whose tanks were sheetmetal circles about 40 to 50 feet indiameter set in concrete. Th interior was coated with tar to protect the steel.
