Just how "instantly" does water conditioner remove chlorine and chloramines?

Does it really get rid of that stuff right away? I'm afraid to kill some of my good bacteria by adding it too soon. Right now I'm adding the conditoner and wating at least 30 minutes before adding the water. I would much rather be able to do it instantly, but I want to be 100% sure it wont hurt my tank

It's pretty instantaneous...especially if you're adding it to the bucket before you fill it with tap water. It mixes better with the tap this way. Many people add it directly to the tank, however...especially people who use the Python water changing system...so basically adding the 'just-treated' water would be perfectly fine.

I regularly change 100 gallons of a 180g Malawi tank in my office. I can't age the water, as I do at home, so I just add Amquel right before refilling the tank. I've been doing this for about 4 or 5 years, and have seen absolutely no problems.

i used to always use amquel but now i switched over to prime.

Prime is pretty good stuff huh, might have to look into that, it have some sort of a dispenser built into the bottle or a pump or something of that size?

I am a Python user and just squeeze the bottle in when re filling the tanks.
