Hi

I am about to use a 2215 canister that has been in storage for like 10 years. Its been run on a bucket of water periodically so electrically it should be fine.

Has anyone had any experience with older hoses, o-rings etc failing? I doubt they will split but may be dried out enough that they simply fall off the various barb fittings.

Also, are the double tap quick disconnects for 12/16mm hose worthwhile?

Any input appreciated.

Even Eheim tubing gets hard, and the risk factor on pop-off does increase with age. I replace mine about every 6-10 years, so for me your tubing would be ready for change.

Disconnects are worth their cost to me.

No problems

I have a 2013 that hadnt been run for about the same time, maybe longer. I just tested it the night before i used it and then put it on. The hoses have been fine and so have all the other parts on it. I just replaced the impeller. All this was a few years ago and still no problems.

Thanks for your replies RTR and Fishaddict.

The filter's hoses do seem a lot stiffer than I remember and I have trouble imagining them "laying in" properly.

The reason I ask is I was checking out stuff on big als site and came across replacement o-rings for eheims etc.
