Raising feeder fish

I know I am going to get yelled at for this but I like to feed my fish feeder fish for a snack. So at least I am going to try to raise my own so I will know that they are in good health. I was just wondering what a good fish would be easy to breed and that would work good for feeder fish. I have a 10g tank that I am going to use to breed them in. I have bred some fish before, some easy one like convicts and such. Any info would be appreciated. Also thought of just being a bunch of rosies and putting them in there to rid them of diseases before feeding them to my other fish.

True, and brightly colored fish like guppies attract predators, so they make good prey. Make sure they are not too inbred, disease wil be rampant.

yeah he;s rigfht to avoid inbreeding, bet a male and female pair and keep them alive in the tank, only use the new fry as feeder, and the male and female will bred over and over, when those stop breeding get two more

i breed mosquito fish, you can get them free from fish stores or the vector control. mine dont seem to eat their young as much as guppies and they grow faster and bigger especially if you heat their water. i had an endless supply when i had some in a kiddie pool with some plants in there and i was taking a dozen every few days.

i bred guppies for my oscar. i just used a plain ole tub sorta thing, like a big tupperware container. i dont know what better way to describe them, and hot glued mesh(with holes big enough for fry but not for adults) to seperate sides. it worked surprisingly well to keep the fry seperated from the parents until they were large enough to be transfered to a regular tank. and guppies breed very fast too. =] go with guppies

I actually just started doing this. I plan to keep a few of the fry, but feed most of them to my angels/discus. It seems cruel, but really, there's nothing i can possibly do with the hundreds of fry i'll end up with.

I breed guppies as well, in large quantities. About every 6 months, I remove the males and replace with new ones to keep the gene pool fresh. This gives me some interesting color results and adds to the fun of having a guppy tank. Convicts are a good choice if you want something larger, but honestly in the sense of treats it doesn't matter if they are large. In addition, put some red ramshorn snails in your guppy tank and let the algea grow freely (as much as it will with ramshorns) the ramshorns will breed and predators love them. I feed 50 or so snails every weekend. everything I have except the pleco go after them with a vengence.

rosy reds are good as well... i dont liek people feeding guppies mainly because i breed them cuz i love em lol. And my babies and adults are the fish world to me...lol
