I have a 55g (48x13x20) freshwater tank. I want to add moonlight to it so I can watch my fish (particularly my small, shy plecos) with the lights out. My daylight is a 36" 96watt 6700 coralife power compact bulb.

What is best, blue or white moonlight?

From what I've heard some people say (at least on the plant forums) is that they prefer the white light because moonlight would really only look blue in deeper SW. The light would still be white-ish in most fw systems. *shrug* I like both, but I think I prefered the white look when I tried some little lights over the tank.

But blue is good, too:D I have a 15w incandescent blue bulb that I sometimes stick over the glasstop on the 55g and it casts a really nice effect. I think it's just personal preference.
