I had promised Doll that I'd show some of the crafty things I did for the wedding, so here they are. Nothing spectacular but fun to make and almost always was cheaper than buying something premade.

Bows for the first few rows of seats, going to be transfered to the head table:

Handkerchief I hand embroidered for my mom. I even made the handkerchief out of fabric and sewed on some lace and pearled flowers:

Bookmark. I made one for each of the girls jsut as something to go along in their bag of gifts:

Ringbearer pillow I finally made myself. I dont have a sewing machine so it's all done by hand. Took about 2 hours start to finish!:D

Just beautiful Leopardess! You're going to have a lovely wedding. I haven't read your "rant" yet, but... when it's all said and done, the day will finally arrive, everyone will have a great time and you'll have a wonderful day to remember. You do beautiful work! Very, very nice! So pretty!

they really are nice, gorgeous in fact, Leo and I'm 150% sure they are much lovelier in person... you such great work! Thanks for sharing them with us :) I can't wait to hear about it all.......

I made my hat for my wedding-took me 2 months, and a lot of glue!!
I looked at hats when I ordered my dress-didn't like any they had, and the catalogs were a joke-overexposed pics that you could't even tell the style of hat! And expensive...
I bought a satin hat base, ready made veil & pouf, sewed on some velcro, glued on about a million pearls & sequins, a few lace appliques, etc.
It cost about $70 or so-looked like it could have cost $300!
And it was fun!
And, I'll have something to keep forever!
So hang on to your treasures-that card box is a neat idea!
 
Beautiful work, Leo. I'm impressed. And by hand on the sewing?! OMG girl! You deserve a long, wonderful and sweet honeymoon!

BTW, I went to school for floral designing and still love working with flowers. My husband just bought me a steelpick machine so I can make arrangements more appropriately and sturdier.

I sincerely hope all goes well for you and Chris.

OMG if you did all that by hand I can't even begin to imagine what you could do with a good sewing machine (an item I know just a little about since my grandmother taught me how to sew and I test drove about 25 machines before I picked the one I wanted, I think I drove the sales person nuts asking all the questions and then putting the machines through their paces I think I nearly gave him a heart attack with the speed and turns and swirls :D)
 
Thank you all! I love doing stuff like that but I never can find an excuse.

I've only ever used a sewing machine once I think...in eigth grade "Life Skills" class. I made a dress for a puppet (Cha cha Degregorio from Grease:D). I do want one at some point - but I have no clue how to use them LOL!

Salty, I'd be interested in maybe seeing a picture of the hat. It sounds beautiful. Even in PM is fine. If not, no worries:) Was it a winter wedding? I saw a Wedding Story today and this lady had her future MIL buy I think it was 500,000 beads and sewed them onto a veil in the most intricate of patterns. It took 5 days of 8 hours a day working on it. It was incredible.

Lila, can you tell me more about what that machine does? I'm not quite familiar. I wish I had friends who knew stuff like that (my mother has greenhouses and gardens - but well, you read my rant;)). I picked baby's breath and bear grass (and some ferns) centerpieces in 3 foot plus thin glass vases....I picked baby's breath because its only ever used as a filler and I was using it as a whole arrangement (original) and because its just so pretty, but I thought it'd be cheap. Guessed wrong! But they're gorgeous and I know I don't have the time or materials to do them:(. I had to buy the vases as 40$ a piece but I'm going to sell them off afterwards, so no loss there.
 
Leo, it's used for silk flowers. It would more than likely end up killing fresh flowers. You put steel picks into a slot in the machine, place the stems of silk flowers over the pick, then pull the handle on the machine. It closes the pick grasps around the stems tightly, preventing them from slipping out. The pick itself is sharp and jagged. You slip it into the foam, after putting some floral tape around it, and it lessons the chances of the flowers falling out. I've been wanting a maching for a long time, but was never able to find one. I finally found one a few days ago at a Hobby Lobby. This place was HUGE and had a large floral section, a big part of it for weddings.
