Today I began the process of getting my fish ready for a 75g. I used a nice fine silica playsand instead of the ugly CC which has turned grayish green. I have the tank filled and is now cycling. My question is I know something should be moved from my other tank to aid in the transfer. Do I have to transfer some of the CC or would drawing some water from the other tank work ok in the new one? I also put in 20 pounds of live sand in this tank.

If you are using similar filtration systems, you can take a filter from your running tank & put it in the new tank's filter system to kick start the cycle.
It doesn't even have to be the whole thing-I've heard of cutting one in half.
Transferring water won't really do much...
Are you shutting down your old tank afterwards? You may want to filter all the critters out of your old sand.

use some kind of sieve or filter sock, etc., to either screen out the sand, leaving the critters, or screen out the critters, leaving the sand...There was a thread about this very thing in the last few days, but I can't remember who's it was-let me do some digging...
