I'd like to either build a DIY spray bar or buy a pre-made spray bar for my Maxi-Jet powerhead. I'd be looking for a spray bar (or at least a piece that attaches to the powerhead) with a 1/2" I.D. I have a couple questions:

1) If I build a DIY, what type of PVC should I use? Is there a particular type that works/looks best? (A source for this type if it's not available at a Home Depot or the like would be appreciated.)

2) Where can I get suction cups that would work with this PVC/pre-made spray bar that would be aquarium-safe?

3) Do any of the pre-made canister filter spray-bars (Eheim, Filstar, etc.) have a 1/2" I.D.?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Mike

You can use just regular white PVC (Home Depot etc) You could easily make a spray bar by drilling holes in a length of 1/2" (I.D.) PVC and capping the end. The only disadvantage of std PVC is esthetics. White with (typically) blue print isn't always that attractive.

The other option would be, as you suggested, buying a premade one. They're gonna look better in general. Not sure on the dimensions tho, check out Marine Depot: www.marinedepot.com. They've got a good selection of "specialized" plumbing parts, I've bought quite a bit from them. You should be able to email them about any part and get the dimensions.
