Behind you!
Im no aquatic plant master and i know i dont have the appropriate setup for optimal plant growth but i need some help. My sword plant is starting to decay around the edges of some leaves and i need advice on how to stop this before i lose the whole plant. It's planted in regular gravel with a product called "first layer" under it i think its laterite. up untill now the plant has been doing awsome and its huge compared to when i got it, but now its starting to decay at the edges of some of the leaves. im guessing this is becuz its not getting enopugh nutrients, does anyone have any advice on how to help this plant?

when my swords are first put in,thay go brown and start to die off, till thay get used to my tank...(think thay grow them outta the water and thay need time to adjust to being fully submerged)
you pics looks like the plant is melting (like a crypt)

What's happening to your plant doesn't look like nutrient deficiency to me. Just a hunch, but are the new leaves that have grown in since you purchased the plant a different shape than the older, damaged leaves? As wickerman said, many swords are grown emerse before they're sold, and the emerse leaves will hang on for a time and eventually die off and be replaced by submerse growth.
If this isn't the case, it would help if you could post your tank specs, lighting, fertilization regime etc. - with more info we can help you analyze what's going on here :)

Any fish in the tank?
How about snails?
It looks like they were eaten to me?

i have a pretty low light/low tech setup, just gravel on the bottom with laterite undernieth and i add flourish once every week or so. i got 6 black skirt tetras, a red tail shark, 2 black mollies, 2 swordtails, 3 zebra danios and a ropefish. i think im running about 1w/gallon of light.

those leaves are the shape of the leaf when the sword is grown above the water line as they are at the nurseries. They only last for a short time under water and then the sowrd plants sheds them like its doing now. just pic them off the plant when they start to decompose. the sword will send up new longer and skinnier underwater leaves.
