Hello all,

I just last week aquired 3 Panda Cories for my 20 gall. I feed once ever other day. Usually a pinch of freeze-dried blood worms and 3-4 pinches of tropical flakes or granules. Then at night I drop in some sinking Frog Bites for my ADF's. My fish are all listed at the bottom.

Anyway, My cories pretty much all stick together. They will constantly swim up against the front of the tank. They go up and down in arc motions almost reaching the top. Sometimes if they are all timed well it looks like a little airplane show. It's kind of cute. I'm just wondering if they are doing this for some bad reason. Am I underfeeding and they are anxious for food? Should I maybe drop 1 or 2 algae wafers in the bottom at night? Or is this normal behavior.

I just tested my water Saturday and Ammonia=0, Nitrites=0, Nitrates=10, pH=7.8.

Thanks,
Curtis

They just do that sometimes :D . They will also occasionally zip to the top of the tank and hit the surface of the water and back down again. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get some tiny algae wafers for them though, feed a few a week. Mine absolutely love them and fight with my pleco for them

strange cory behavior

I have a single adolfo's cory (the other 4 died a few years ago of a bacterial illness). A few days ago it started swimming aimlessly up and down the front glass all day long . It usually did not do this. I just lost an older bristle nose plec mysteriously so I wonder if something is bothering the cory. The only thing I changed lately is the driftwood. I replaced and old one with a nice chunck of cedar mounted on slate I found at the fish store. I noticed the pH has dropped a bit to 6.0 but I use RO water that is usually under 7. It's a 29 gal. tank and I have tetras in with the cory so I like to keep the water soft and acid. I would appreciate any input-I would like to keep the last cory alive if at all possible.

Cedar is usually treated with chemicals. If you're not sure about it (it would let you know if it wasn't and most of the cedar products in petstores are treated) Move the cory into fresh water and clean ot the tank.

Thanks for the reply. I called the petstore and the guy who sold me the wood said he is 100% certain the wood is not treated. He has had no problem with cedar from the same supplier in his tanks. So he thinks the pleco death is coincidence. I am not ruling it out though as I am sure he would not want to admit responsibility.
