ahsupply bulb question

Hello All,

I am working on getting the parts for my custom hood and I've decided to go with 1 36w setup from www.ahsupply.com. My question is what bulb should I get?
Part 11365 - 36 Watt 5500K Compact Fluorescent Bulb
This bulb has an exceptionally high CRI (color rendering index) of 92. A rich white daylight bulb for your freshwater aquarium.

Part 11366 - 36 Watt 6700K Compact Fluorescent bulb
Very bright, full spectrum, clear white light with just a tinge of blue - like daylight at mid-afternoon with a clear blue sky.

Part 11361 - 36 watt 10000K Compact Bulb
Often called super-purified daylight, combine this bulb with blue actinic bulbs over your marine aquarium.

My thinking is the 6700K is that correct? My tank is freshwater and listed on my signature.

I had the 67000, it was crazy bright. I go with the 55000 now. easier on the eyes, mine and me fishes. Plus, I havent noticed any difference in plant growth.

Kelvin temps are for your eyes only, literally. Supposedly, 6700k is the visual temp that one gets from sunlight. However, it doesn't really mean anything to you plants... I have 4000k, 6500k and 10000k systems up and running and the only thing that the plants care about is the wattage. I like 6700k and 10000k systems because they tend to bring out more reds in my plant stock.

Id say bulb number 2. 6700k are the best for plants IME.

I find that 6700k are too bright for some light sensitve fish. 5500k are easier on the eyes IMO. I mainly use 5000k bulbs though becuase my loaches like it better. 5000k look more yellow than bright white. You may want to experiment with all the bulbs to find your preference. Just buy them all, thats what I do.

I have their 6700K.

It makes no difference to the plants, really. Its a personal preference thing. I find bulbs like the 5500K too yellow.

The 67K is just as bright as the 55k....and vice versa. Just a difference color. 67K is a bit whiter and bluer than the 55k.

We have the 5k on our tank, as it gives it sort of an early morning/late evening look. Warm, with a bit of a reddish tint with a hint of yellow. Basically, thought that'd look nice and got it--that's the only real consideration among those choices.
