What are some good plants to put in african cichlid tanks cause Im planning to start one soon.Also I would like to know if the certain cichlids would eat the plants cause I dont want to buy plants only as food for the cichlids.

Most plants will not last in an AFrican tank. You can try Anubius, they tougher then most, or Java-sword. Not ALL African cichlids eat or dig up plants, but most do.
 
java fern work well..i have them in my tang tank.
if yr thinking of keeping mumba,then thay will more then likely destroy any plants you try to put in.
but that said,java fern and some vals,will grow in hard water,with high ph.
