is the inches of fish per gallon a good way to go by stocking thats what i have always used and evryone tells me my tank is overstocked when it works out right. oh and i know about min tank sizes because you cant put a 10inch oscare in a 10g tank even though it works out what should i be useing to stock

The rule of thumb for stocking fish is how clean can you keep your water. If you can keep your levels right then you are not overstocked.

Yes this information is incorrect. You will stunt the growth of your fish by keeping them in a small tank.

The best way to stock a tank is to research multiple sources regarding a particular fish's (the one you're interested in) min. tank size. Most will be around the same, but if one sticks waaay out, you can omit it.

Oh, you can also ask the opinions of the humble folks here in the AC forums :D .
