 aight, well i have a 20 gallon decent sized tank, filled with plenty decor and plants, real and fake, also i plan on having bunch of comunity fish, and some ADF (african dwarf frogs) and a newt or two, plus snails, and i really really like the tiger barbs, or the tiger clowns that look like them, but in a shark figure..... anyhoo i have seen barbs mixed with community before but i want to ask y ou guys for your advice before i mix one in....

If you plan on having peaceful community fish in the tank, then the tiger barbs would be a bad choice. They tend to be bullies. You could choose to do a semi-aggressive community tank though. Clown loaches (the shark-like ones) aren't suitable for your tank size.

ok thanks for your message, i will just get a 10 gal. little tank, put a 20 gallon filter (already got it) on it plus a heater, put my community fish in it, then get some semi-aggressives....

thanks keep posting suggestions if you please, i will take anything into consideration...

not sure I followed your last post, but a 10g would be too small for tiger barbs if that is what you meant. It might work for some snails, newts (don't know what size tank they need, so I'm guessing) and ADFS.

I agree with aqualung... tiger barbs are not very suitable with a community tank.... however it is said that if u put 6 or more tiger barbs into the tank, they will be too preoccupied with themselves to disturb other fish... anyway haven't tried it myself coz would rather not take the risk...

Has anyone ever heard of a tiger barb leaping out of the tank? I was switching my tiger out of a tank because he was beating up the others. I put him in a big cup half-filled with water. I went upstairs for 10 mins and came back down, he had launched himself up and out of the cup and out off of my table onto the middle of the floor. He must have cleared 5" of empty cup and outwards a couple feet!

Any fish will jump if stressed or in bad water conditions...

P.S. Start a new thread for questions of your own, you'll get more responses and won't confuse people trying to help the original poster :o
