Ok, I have a couple Platys that I used to cycle my 20 gal tank a while back. It's been about 3 months since the completion of the cycle. Of my three left the red one has lost its appetite, just chills over by the filter and is starting to look kind of emaciated...honestly he quite resembles one of those "swedish fish" candies these days as opposed to the roundish goldfish figure that his brothers have. Tank is quite steady at 77 degrees, 7.6, 0 ammo, 0nitrite, and never any more than 10 ppm 'trates before my weekly change....everyone else is steady and quite lively. No signs of Ich, gasping or anything else really...just getting all thin and whatnot. Just wondering if you think this might be a intestinal thing and I should just move him to a hospital tank to go his way and cut back risk of infecting my Rams and Neons?? I'm not all to experienced in treating and diagnosing so any help would be great....thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what he has, but it is probably a good idea for you to move him into another tank. Sorry I can't help you more.

It could be an intestinal parasite. There are a few effective treatments, but my preferred method is garlic soaked foods. There are a few prepared foods that contain garlic, or you can soak you current food in a garlic extract for 10 minutes before feeding.

I'd probably feed the entire tankwith this, on the chance that your other fish have been exposed.

OG, if you feed the entire tank with this, would you avoid the quaranting route, then?
