bala and gouramis

Depends on tank size. Most gouramis other than dwarves need agood sized tank. Balas need a huge tank and do best in groups, and I mean well over 100 gallons. Less than a hundred gallons and by themselevs and balas tend to get skittish and don't make great tank mates for anyone.
IMO bala sharks should cost $75 each to keep folks with tanks under 100 gallons, as TKOS suggested, won't bother.
As far as getting along, the gouramis won't be able to catch the balas to bother them and the balas don't tend to be fin nippers.
