Eggs or Dropsy?

Here's a pic of a female betta with a serious case of dropsy...

She didn't really show signs of being ill either as far as behavior...until just before she died. I have had other fish with the condition that did show signs such as listless behavior...hanging around on the bottom etc....

Could just be eggs....here's a pic of a female all striped up and ready to breed.....

The trick is to see if the scales are protruding. If they are sticking out, isolate her YESTERDAY. I have seen goldfish so fat that their scales protruded when their intestinal track got jammed up by inappropriate food. A few (likely constipated painful) days later, there was a big ol bunch of poop on the tank floor and a fish less bloated.

I've seemed to notice a concurrence of dropsy and shimmies (swimming in place restlessly), not sure why, but I haven't had that problem in years.

Okay, the swelling has gone down significantly, almost back to normal. At the bottom of my makeshift "in-tank" Refugium is a ball of feces. I take it that she was a little constipated, is this still considered dropsy or just constipation of some kind? Thanks for the help BTW.
