hola
you know the cycle stuff that i supposed to start your bio-filter when cycling. i had a of question about that. first of all how the heck could all those bacteria stay live in there whithout food?even if they added ammonia when bottled wouldnt it be converted into nitrate by the time it got to your aquarium?i mean would it not come to buying a bottle of dead bacteria for exhorbitant ammounts of money?please fill me in on this and tell me if im wrong

thats what we all wonder so most of us think its snake oil. i had some that came with a new tank i brought. didnt seem to make a difference. if you really need a quick cycle get the marineland one it is harder to find cause it has to be kept frozen and it has a short shelf life even when frozen. a lot of people says it works but i never tried it.

what do you mean by snake oil?

oh ok.thanks for the link

ahh YACT (yet another cycle thread). Yep its crap. my first 3 sword tails are looking down upon us vomiting pinkish fluid as per scene from "6th sense"

What about seachem's (new?) product stability.

Only reason i ask is because stabilty is VERY hard to search for (like microsoft's "word" darn them)

Also, seachem impressed me with their apparent dedication to "truth in advertising". Love the purigen product. Finally solved my long time nitrate problem. Plus they impressed me by actually answered my questions about what the specific chemical that inteeacts with the purigen with a more than detailed enough answer.

i have also used cycle and even after 4 weeks my tank did nothing so we tried biozyme its a powder bran based bacteria that comes to life so to speak when it hits water worked amazingly after only 4 doses my tank is in the nitrate part of the cycle its the best thing i ever tried i love it!!!

Maybe it just added pure nitrates to the tank. You are still missing the ammonia and nitrites part. I remember that this had happen to other people too. They thought their tank was cycled, but it wasn't and ended up killing some fish because of high ammonia levels.

HA .. so i am right. they do have products that cause the problem that they advertise to fix so they can sell more product. I think the aquarium market needs some real government regulation. at walmart i counted 12 seperate snake oil products with partial or total misadvertisement.

hmm maybe thats a business i can start. Aquarium supply with the selling point of 100% full disclosure of ingredients and scientific proof of effiecy. inital estimates would force me to make inital batches in small amounts and would probably retail at about double of the blackbox products at walmart. Would anybody purchase under these conditions? I still think they sneak ick in some medications. i've followed every faq (including the extended green/formaldin one) and it keeps popping back every once in a while. I am going to distill my own sodium chloride next time it comes back.

but enough ranting today
