November 10th 1997 to August 20th 2005 the vehichle that re-defined the word truck !!!
1997 F250 Hd 4x4 diesel
328,964 miles and only 4 roadside breakdowns (none in the first 6 years) less than $3500 dollars in repair parts (excluding general maintenance) exceptional preformance to the end. It was with great sadness that I traded her in, but the time had come and she served me well.

The new truck is awesome, but the old truck shall be missed.

The replacement 2006 F350 Super duty Fx4 deisel.

I know how you feel. I love my car but I hate my car. It's old and has 250,000 miles on it but I'd feel bad once I got rid of it.

Congrats on the new truck though. It's nice and shiny:D

328,000 miles. I bet you spend a few bucks a year in gasoline.

Congrats! ...and Condolences, Dave! :) :(

I just got a new mommymobile in March, the long dreaded minivan... 2005 Chevy Venture. I used to have a 1999 Subaru Outback Sport. I loved that car, and I'd still be driving it today, but we just outgrew it! With two kids and the dog... we needed more space. Now that I have the minivan, I really don't know how I survived this long without it!

....and not everyone goes for Fords! ;) Hubby has his nice new Chevy Avalanche all picked out and ready to go.... For, uh, whenever I actually go back to work!

LOL! :p:

I feel you, bro! My 1992 Ford Mustang GT 5.0, from December 1991 until July 2005. Finally down and out.

But I'm keeping her. One day I'll have her restored to her original beauty and cruising around. But I will miss our time apart.

Hope your new one gives as good as that old one did Dave !

We used to have an old 84 ford Crown Victoria. It was a no frills leftover police car...still had the metal ring on the floor in back to chain prisoners up to ...lol...no carpeting, no fancy dashboard...basically...no NOTHIN ! But it did have dual exhaust and a couple years worth of excellent top quality maintenance and care..... a fantastic car that lasted us well over 200,000 miles...but when it was time to go...my little 4 year old cried as they were towing it out the driveway ! :(

Lol...he's been a car man right from the git go ! When he was 3 I heard him pipe up in the back..."Hey mom ! a corvette !" He was right..! He also let me know that we had just passed a car just like ours, but it was a different color (and he only saw the taillights !).....jeesh...I can't tell one car from another and this kid is picking them out make and model number by the age of 3 !! He's now almost 10 and still likes his cars !

A son any man would be proud of ! :thm:

Emg, your kid sounds like my dad growing up. I honestly wouldn't have noticed such without his enthusiasm for it. He still can rattle off what engine and transmission options were available for a cirtain modle year. He sees a glimpse of an old car and knows it is one of two years, and is saying if he could have just seen headlight or tailight he could have known exactly.

My dad collects matchbox sized replicas of cars of all ages and makes. he even paints the details that the cheaper brands don't put on them. he has over 1000 cars each showing a car that exsists or used to. matchbox, hotwheels, jonny lightning, raceing champions, and other less common toy makers have all contributed to the collection.

It is not the best time to try to start such a collection. matchbox and hotwheels for the most part don't make replicas of cars anymore.

I'm glad to see the faith is still strong in the Ford Pick-ups

I've owned 6 fords counting the new one and my Wife's expedition, and one full size Chevy Blazer. If I won a new chevy pick-up today, I'd drive my Ford to the store and get a for sale sign and put it on the chevy where ever it happened to be sitting when I won it. I would definately not attempt to drive it anywhere,
Chevy's are like a rock. As long as they sit still and never move they will be fine. As soon as you attempt to move them the potential of them breaking is huge.
The Blazer was a complete nightmare in every sense of the word. MY Dad Had an S-10 and it caused him similar amounts of stress. I distinctly remember When his 1987 S-10 with 42,000 miles blew an engine, and I had to pull it home with my '71 F-250 with over 200,000 miles on it.

I know a lot of people who are happy with their Chevy's, and I have seen some nice ones. But after four years of no Golf, aquariums, fishing, or Hunting because I spent every free moment under the hood of that D#$@ chevy. I shall not ever give GM another Dime of my money. I Don't even allow folks to park their GM's in my driveway for fear that they will break down and Block the Fords in. The real Kicker was after 4 years averaging $4000 + per year in repairs, I took a $5000 loss on trade in because the chevy wouldn't run right the day I went to trade it in.

But to each their own I guess. I know folks who would defend their chevy's as adamantly as I defend my Fords.

My '93 GMC Jimmy gave me a bad taste for GM trucks. The vehicle had more than it's share of problems, and neither the dealer nor GM seemed too worried about them. That was my only experience with a GM product, and it likely will be the only one I ever have.

My new Ford F150 is pretty nice, though. Just picked it up yesterday...

My Blazer was a 93 also, Coincidence ???????????

Give me MOPAR or no car!!

My Dad's dodge trucks have been nice, but he seldom goes off road. Everyone I've known that used a Ddge in a rock quarry boght a lot of suspension parts. That's really my only beef with Dodge. They would definately be second choice behind Ford for me.

BTW, thanks everyone for your comments, including the chevy and Mopar Fans.

John, this Saturday evening I'll have the tool boxes, fuel tank, Rhino liner, and Chrome cab steps on it. Monay I'll get the flaps and flares, and interior exterior protectant done. I'll post a new picture when the accessories are all on it. I feel like I'm building a house, but then again I do spend more time in my truck than I do my home most weeks.

You know what Lila, reading your post was the first time the idea of the new truck payment didn't bother me. It's nice to know someone real gets a few pennies from my purchase.

Thanks. With a family my size, every penny counts for those mortgages, car payments and groceries. My gosh...the grocery bill.

Wow, Over 300,000 miles????
The F-series is the better line from Ford. Hard to find American made cars that last that long!

Your new 2006 F-350 is pretty awesome, but I bet that was not light on the checkbook either, lol.

I bet your MPG is not very good either is it? A friend of mine has a Dodge 3500 2004 model he bought brand new. He hauls a 25' (just guessing the length) trailer full of tools and stuff behind it everywhere he goes. On the highway he gets 11 MPG!!! Thats worse than a Hummer!

He probably gets EXCELLENT mileage, he has the 6.0 PSD. I would imagine mileage is 15 in town 20 on the highway..??.. Or at least it will be when it get broken in.

Diesel is the only way to go in 3/4t-1ton pickups. I get about 17 average in my '01 Ram Cummins. About 21 on the highway, and my 3/4T 4x4 Ram cummins weighs 7K.

wow nice truck. i wanted a super duty really bad so did my dad. but mom said no :( we had to get a f150 lariat. i do love the way the f250 rides, better than my bmw. i wanted the powerstroke though. good gas mileage. i love the way the diesel sounds and i wanted to chip it and blow black smoke all over the little hondas around here.

the new truck is right at 20 MPG,and climbing a bit as it breaks in. I'll be adding an aftermarket intake that will gain me a couple miles to the gallon, and probably a chip that will gain me a couple more on top of that. The chip ruins the new 50 state emmission certification, but honestly it will still pass e-check anywhere, it just won't pass the manufacturing emissions standards. And as far as that goes, the State of Ohio doesn't do e-check except in a few select counties.

Well as if ya couldn't tell.... I am a Mustang girl myself! Always owned em and love em....

Have an '80 and a '98. Only cars I have ever owned. The '98 (of course drove the '80 everyday till then) is the most trouble free awesome car ever. She still beat those little rockets that are dumb enough to challenge her. Has 75 k on it now....for the price, that car has been the most bang for the buck....I love to burn those rockets on the Tollway and it's only a v6....

FORD ......
FIRST ON REWARDS DAY! YEAH!!!!

MUSTANG POWER!

Oh and of course I married a Ford man.... he has the 2002 Expedition. Now that thing can haul anything and you can't feel the pull of the trailer.....confortable too.

daveedka, I was going to ask if you were putting in a cold air breather. We added one to our f250-added anywhere from 4-6 mpg! Made a big diff! We also chipped it, since it was out of warranty when we bought it.
Course, there are types of chip programmers you can buy that keep the old program in memory, so you can switch it back if you have trouble, hee hee...
