Hey everyone:
I purchased a false percula clown to place in my 30 gallon with its current resident, a magenta dottyback. I knew there would be a lot of aggresion from the dottyback, but i didnt quite anticpicate how bad it would be. After several failed attempts to get the dottyback into my little fish trap i made (darn thing is fast!), i put a plexiglass divider halfway down the tank. My problem is that i had to rearange my live rock. When i take the glass out and put the rock back, will i have problems with both fish getting confused and forgetting where each of there territories are? i will only move two rocks back up into thier positions...Just curious...Thanks all!

Unfortunately, a 30 doesn't give enough room to really have 2 different territories... The agression will return, you need to pick which fich you wanna keep and find the other one a home..

Thanks raven,
Thats pretty much what i had thought after i observed how aggressive the dottyback was. I called two LFSs and one of them agreed to take the dottyback and try to find it a home, now all i have to do is try to net the darn thing...Thanks for your help!

Dottybacks are like that little kid everyone picks on that eventually just snaps and beats up the bully... They look so peaceful =)

I'd use that tank divider, just move more rock to one side, scoot it over, move more, scoot it over, and keep going till ya pin the critter... Then use a pitcher to scoop him rght out (don't net sw fish, too spiny and excitable..) Be patient, let the fish rest often if ya need too, just don't hurt the little guy =)

Good luck!

I know that this may be a shock to the little guy, but I've had great luck with cichlids by waiting until the night when the lights have been off for a few ours. You then get a flashlight and go and gently net him and put him in a breeder of some sort. This may shock him, but I'm serious when I say that if you wait long enough, you could probably go in there and pick up a fish if you didn't move to fast. Then just net him out in the morning when you leave. Just a thought.
