Hi, I have been lurking here for about a year and half or so. I have been able to answer most of my questions by searching here. But this is one I can't find a answer for. Hopefully one of you guys can help me out. Thank you for your time.

sorry if pics are big

How big is this little guy? Did you buy him or did he show up in one of your tanks? It almost looks like a very young S. mulipunctatus in first picture or a young H. thoracatum in second picture. If he is really small like less then 2 inches or so it may take a while before he is identifiable.

Thanks for the reply. He is about 1.5 to 2". He was in a shipment that came in to the LFS, he was with some lace cats. They didn't know what he was either. I was on planetcatfish, but didn't find anything, the closest was a giraffe(sp) cat?
Thanks

The top pic does almost look like a Syno. The bottom one does look like an Auchenoglanis(spelling), or a giraffe cat like you mention. Giraffe cats ROCK. I have been wanting one, but having got one because they get BIG. Many can hit over 2 feet in length. Good luck with him.

I don't know if he is a giraffe or not. He doesn't have the right markings yet, but he is young. If he is I have a 300g waiting for him when he gets a tad bigger!:D

Hi everyone, thanks for the help. I think I figured him out to be a
Anaspidoglanis macrostoma, dwarf girafee. It says he only gets to 9" or so. I love catfish.
Thanks again

Not really trying to plug another forum, but the next time you are at planet catfish, try the forum there. THey have lots of people who know about the extremely rare cats.:)
