How to plant CABOMBA

I have some green cabomba and it has leafs all the way down the stem..

What should be the correct way of planting this? I've done it before and it just died off :(

any help much apreciated.
 
hey there

i have a pond w/ swordtails planted with cabomba and its been growing mad without any fertilizers, etc.
i just planted it in the gravel and its been growing and multiplying ever since..

can't see y urs died bcoz mine have been doing well without any care whatsoever..

but i live in the tropics though so i dont know if there's a difference :)
 
I just stuff the lower part into the gravel. Cobomba requires a lot of light!!!

I have not grown them in years because I did not have enough light. I now have almost 5 watts per gal. and my cobomba grows like mad. 3+ months ago I started with this 2 inch sliver. Now I have 12 tall plants!!

My plants are doing well under 2 wpg w/ excel and no CO2, but I can't plant them as a bunch. I have to plant them individually so light can get down to bottom leaves, then they do fine. When they get too tall I pull them, cut the bottoms off and replant the top. They do much better this way.

I particularly like the way cabomba will branch when you cut the top off, therefore I generally leave them planted, cut them short and then plant the part I cut loose. the original stem will send side shoots and branches up doubling and tripling the size of the original plant.

i do this too..

cut it when it gets too long.. replant the top part or give it to my friends for their tanks.. the planted part regrows quite easily..

the same with some aquatic weeds :D
