We all like the stocking questions so much, I wanted to share my own...

I have the following in a 180 gallon:

1 common pleco
1 bristlenose pleco
1 molly
1 rainbow shark
2 male guppys
3 platys
3 bala sharks
5 clown loaches
5 serpae tetras (8 eventually)
8 blackskirt tetras
9 cory cats
10 neons
10 scissortails

Most of the fish are still pretty small, the biggest being 2 of the balas at about 4-5 inches. Everything gets along well, so I don't want to cause any problems, but I would like a couple more larger fish (nothing nocturnal, I want to see them!). Can I go with a couple of gouramis of some kind? Or other suggestions? The tank is kind of dull fish color wise, so colorful would be good too, but I realize I may not have alot of options!

Thanks!

I think you can fit up to 4 gouramis, regular or dwarf or a mix, in there without any problems. I had 4 in my 180 and they showed no sign of aggression since there was so much space.

Holly, I have no idea about compatability, or even how much room you have left. But I know whats colorful LOL
what about rainbow fish?
bosmanis for instance, would they work?

IMO, you would be testing the tank. Those loaches will get to 12 inches, I just found a home for my 17 inch pleco, and those balas will get 9-12 inches. Not to mention, I've seen 10 inch rainbows. I think you need to look more long term. I have a 150 with about 20 fish and that's a chore. I don't have anything like those now, big fish require more space and time.

Not to mention, I've seen 10 inch rainbows.
Wow, I thought they maxed out at 6".
As for the rest, IMO holly is angling for a bigger tank ;)

haha, wow. And I'm afraid to get a 30g because of the extra work. :P

I'm not sure how much space you'd have left after those fish grow out, but if you end up giving them away, or something else happens, I would reccomend congo tetras. They're beautiful and glimmery, colorful with very fancy tails.

I was hoping for just one or two more "big" fish... I know the clowns will get to be pretty large, but that will take a long time. I definately don't want anymore schools, I already have more than I would like, but I won't get rid of any of my fish, so they're here to stay!! Honestly, when we move within the next 5 years we will probably build and I've been trying to get my husband accustomed to the idea of building a tank into the wall :D !!
