Wow I have a real angry betta on my hands. He's totally pissed of with me. He's trying to attack me through the glass and all. Probably because I just took his 3/4 gallon bowl and content and moved it into a 2.5 gallon tank. The bowl wide wider but round not as long as the 2.5 is long. The 2.5 is also taller. Maybe he's finding the side to side distance shorter and is mad or the fact that I didnt consult with him regarding this change ;)

Anyway he'll calm down in a bit and I'll try and take a picture.

wow he does seem mad. they dont like to be moved. when i moved my betta he did the same thing but then after a few hours he was fine.

Thats funny!! I'm sure he'll get over once he realizes how much more room he has

Ok here are some shots of his home partially set up. There is still some debris suspended in the water and on the glass so forgive the poor photos but I think he's looking happier and maybe a little less angry with me :)

Beautiful fish. What houseplant is that?? I just put my female betta in the kitchen in a 2 gallon clear glass canister for a bowl. It has a heater and keeps the temp around 78-79. Could I add a house plant (bare root I know) to the jar? I have tons of house plants. How would they do in the heated water? I do a daily partial water change for her now. The silly girl started in the 40 gallon tank, then proceded to eat the eyeballs from a rasbora and a neon utimately killing one, so was tried and convicted and placed in the 2 gallon jar. The pet store offered to take her back, but she is so pretty, and her eyes just follow me around. Her body is a pale pink with dark black eyes, and red fins...gorgeous girl betta. I couldn't bare to give her up. I figure my 2 gallon jar is better than those horrible betta bowls. Would a live plant give her a better environment? Thanks

Hmm not sure what they are called but they grow equally as well in a flowerpot or in water. They just keep getting longer and longer. If you snip it and put the 2nd piece in water, it will start growing as well.... I have a picture of his old bowl. The leaves may look familiar. Maybe someone knows what kind it is...

PS. Sorry to hear about your other fish and the eyes :( Bettas can sometimes get pretty territorial. I think my betta enjoys going between the roots and things. It almost seems that sometimes he rests on top of branches or against things if he's really lazy to swim. I also notice that when he's sleeping, he tends to go into the more rooted area so he probably feels more protected there.

I think you should put something in your tank or bowl as well but i"d make sure the plant is indeed safe. I dont know what mine is but so far no casualties. I do partial water changes once a week too but I suspect the plant does filter the water a bit and keep ammonia partially under control.
