right now i have a forty gal tank with a magnum 350 filter, bio wheels, life guard fluidized sand filter, and 2 powerheads i want to go to brackish i plan on keeping spotted green puffers here are my questions

1 should i use the sand filter?
2 is this adiquit filtration?
3 how many puffers could i keep?
4 what is the propper salinity?
5 what kind of salt and name brands would you recamend?
6 what is comptable with the puffers?
7 are figure 8 puffers copatable with spotted puffers?
8 how big do figure 8's get

anyways,

1. sure, use the fluidized sand filter
2. yes, i think your filtration should be adequate.
doesn't hurt to have more tho.
3. i would keep 2 in a 40g
4. 1.005-1.020
5. get a hydrometer and use marine salt - i use Instant Ocean
6. puffers can be aggressive, but i keep mine with a mollie... the one baby that didn't get eaten.
7. sometimes... it all depends on individual personalities of the fish
8. um... up to 4-6" from what i've read.

Check with the lfs you are getting them from as to what specific gravity they are beeing kept at. Usually FW. You'll have to raise it slowly. Mine live with bumblebee gobies.
