Ok I just have a question about live rock. Say I only want to have a FO aquarium but still want to build a rock wall with caves and hiding spots. Is it possible to use a different kind of rock to do this? Then I would of course have to get a filteration system. My main concern is curing the live rock and how its going to smell while its being done.
Any advice would be great
Thanks!

?!? You can build cave systems with live rock. You can supplement with any porous aquarium safe rock, if you want a specific shape. Live rock really won't smell when it's submerged. If you can, buy pre-cured rock--it works well, comes with more 'stuff'.

The odor from cycling can be reduced by running carbon--but I didn't have any strong odors when I cycled my 120's with cocktail shrimp.

Buy cured LR, they do not smell.

Thanks alot for the help. I know its a weird question its just that I live with my parents and I had to beg them to let me keep this tank and now they finally like the idea but they said we dont want anything thats going to stink up the house. I would much rather have live rock so if pre cured live rock doesn't stink then thats what I will do.
Thanks again!
