How often are you people changing the cartridges in
"real world" use ?

Mine seem to want to be changed after 2 weeks as there is
a very small trickle starting in the overflow chamber.

Thanks,
Daniel

If I change 4 cartridges every 2 weeks ( I have 2 330's)...It can cost me upwards of $ 255.00 a year !!! OUCH !!!

How much are yearly media for a Eheim 2213 ?

Or a Fluval 304 ?

Thanks,
Daniel

Don't feel bad, I need to change them weekly in my fry tanks-2 penguin330s  Buy them from www.bigalsonline.com they are 4.99(us) for a 3 pack. Even having them shipped to the West coast, there is NO comparison to the chain stores or LFS.

I always rinse my cartridges out many times before replacing them. I usually get around two-three months on a set of cartridges in a 330.

It takes a few minutes, but it saves a lot of $$$

I don't buy the filter cartridges anymore. I pulled the blue-fabric off of a used cartridge and emptied out the carbon. I then re-cover the black frame with polyester batting from Walmart. Simple, and cheap. :)

yea, big als is great to buy just about anything at a good price. what you can do is put the cartridges in the dishwasher in a rinse cycle, then cut a very small hold in the cartridge, take out the carbon and put in fresh carbon in.
